Why I Stopped Teaching Mindset and Started Teaching Presence

For years, I believed mindset was the answer.

Like many women, I immersed myself in personal development. I read the books, attended the workshops, listened to the podcasts, and filled journals with affirmations and goals.

I learned about limiting beliefs.

I taught confidence.

I helped women challenge their thinking and dream bigger.

And while mindset work absolutely has its place, something always felt missing.

There was a gap I couldn't quite explain.

I would leave a workshop feeling inspired, motivated, and ready to take on the world.

But a few days later, life would happen.

Stress would return.

Overwhelm would creep back in.

The self-doubt would quietly find its way to the surface again.

I began to wonder why.

If we knew what to think, why was it still so hard to feel different?

The answer didn't arrive all at once.

It arrived quietly.

Through flowers.

Through horses.

Through journaling.

Through meditation.

Through nature.

Through Reiki.

Through sound healing.

Through sitting in silence long enough to hear my own heart.

What I discovered was that transformation doesn't always happen through thinking.

Sometimes it happens through feeling.

Sometimes it happens through slowing down.

Sometimes it happens when we stop trying to fix ourselves and simply learn how to be present.

For years, I was trying to help women change their thoughts.

Now I help them reconnect with themselves.

And there is a difference.

Because presence asks something very different of us.

Mindset says, "What should I be thinking?"

Presence asks, "What am I feeling right now?"

Mindset says, "How do I become someone different?"

Presence asks, "Can I accept who I am in this moment?"

Mindset focuses on the destination.

Presence teaches us how to arrive where we already are.

The irony is that the things I was most drawn to over the years didn't seem connected at all.

Flowers.

Journals.

Creativity.

Crystals.

Meditation.

Horses.

Puppies.

Nature.

Reiki.

Sound bowls.

At times they felt like random interests pulling me in different directions.

But recently I realised they all share one thing in common.

Every single one invites us into the present moment.

When you're arranging flowers, you're present.

When you're sitting quietly with a horse, you're present.

When a puppy curls up beside you, you're present.

When you're journaling your thoughts onto paper, you're present.

When you're listening to crystal singing bowls, you're present.

When you're receiving Reiki, you're present.

And when you're walking slowly through a garden noticing the blooms around you, you're present.

The healing isn't in the activity itself.

The healing is in the presence it creates.

Perhaps that's why so many women feel exhausted today.

We're constantly being asked to think more, do more, achieve more, and become more.

Very few people are teaching us how to simply be.

How to breathe.

How to listen.

How to reconnect with our bodies.

How to notice what we need.

How to sit beneath a tree and remember that we are part of nature, not separate from it.

That realization changed everything for me.

It changed the way I teach.

It changed the experiences I create.

It changed the direction of my business.

And, most importantly, it changed me.

These days, when women visit the Wildflower Soul Sanctuary, my goal isn't to give them more information.

The world already gives us plenty of that.

My hope is to give them something much rarer.

Space.

Space to breathe.

Space to create.

Space to connect.

Space to listen.

Space to remember who they are beneath all the noise.

Because I no longer believe transformation begins with changing your mindset.

I believe transformation begins with coming home to yourself.

And that journey starts with a single moment of presence.

A deep breath.

A flower picked from the garden.

A quiet conversation with a horse.

A journal page.

A cup of tea.

A moment where the noise fades and you hear your own voice again.

That is the work I do now.

Not teaching women how to think differently.

Helping them remember how to be present.

And in that presence, everything else begins to bloom.
